Bukit Batok Nature Park

One of the two beautiful parks in west Singapore and Bukit Batok is the Bukit Batok Nature Park and the other one is the Bukit Batok town Park, which is fondly called the Little Guilin. These parks are separated by Bukit Batok East, which is about a 15 to 20-minute walk from each other.

Bukit Batok Nature Park Overview and Features

Considering that both parks bear similarity in the name, it created confusion not only for the tourists as well as for the locals. Though the parks have different features, both of these parks were developed on abandoned quarry sites. The Bukit Batok Nature Park was developed as a park in the year 1988 on an abandoned quarry site.

It is a place of total serenity and tranquility that may be a perfect place for a tired, weary and stressed body. Crystal clear water will surely ease out the burden on the person. Take a stroll along the lush greenery footpath that traverses a secondary forest. Some people will take a challenge to their fitness regime by running in the undulating terrain of the park. Nature lovers would prefer to take a hike and just enjoy the peacefulness of nature.

You may want to have a bird’s eye view of the former quarry site and take a climb to get that vantage point. At this vantage point, from which you can see the relic of a former quarry site, the pond runs deep and still.

When you are strolling in the place, you can see a memorial plaque that pays tribute to the soldiers of World War II. It was a site where the Japanese chose the Lerong Sesuai memorial site for the soldiers that died during the war. On top of Bukit Batok, you may find the Bukit Batok Memorial wherein there stood memorials that were erected to remember the dead soldiers of the Japanese as well as of the Allies who fought in the ill-famous Battle of Timah during World War II. However, these have been destroyed and only the two pillars and the concrete 120 steps leading to the transmission of power are the visible remnants of the war. When in this place, it is good to pay and show respect to the souls of the soldiers and as well as of the victims of the war.

The bitter memories of the past were already been overshadowed by the mesmerizing beauty of the place. This became a place for people to find solitude, peace, and as well as to just enjoy nature.
